11.16.09 - ABOUT THE VAN AND TOUR
Several people have sent us email asking on how the search for a new tour van is going, and to be honest it’s not going well at the moment. All of the vans that we’re coming across are either to old and run down, not heavy duty enough, or just plain out of our price range. We’re not giving up, but it is a tiring process and even now we’re out on the road until Thanksgiving in a borrowed van (Thanks to our good buds in Kingsdown) with borrowed gear (thanks to our new buds in Burning Yesterday) because the van we’re borrowing isn’t heavy duty enough to pull our massive amount of gear that’s in our oversized trailer. So needless to say our situation is pretty dyer on the van front. And I say these things not to sound bleak and throw a pitty party for Spoken, but to just let those who are interested know what’s up. So you ask, “What’s being done to rectify the situation and what can I do to help out Jef?” I’m so glad you thought to ask, thank you. We’re in the process of saving what money we can and also accepting donations so once we find a van that’s suitable we can either pay for it outright (best situation) or put a down payment on one (not the best).

So if you would like to help us out you can either send your donation via PayPal to: jefspoken@gmail.com, or you can even mail your donation to: SPOKEN 1909 Lawndale Dr. Spring Hill, TN 37174.

We also have a link on the Spoken Myspace that will lead you through the process. Any donation what-so-ever will help us along to reaching our goal of buying a new tour vehicle. So far we’ve managed to save and receive over $3,500.00 which by it’s self is a decent down payment but if we could get to the $7,000.00 mark that would be the best possible situation so we wouldn’t have to worry about financing a vehicle.

Now that’s out of the way

Spoken is out on the road right now on the “To Vegas and Back” Tour with Burning Yesterday. This will be Spoken’s last tour of the year 2009, and we want to send this old man off with a bang so it would be rad if you could come to any of the shows and say “what up”.

09.05.09 - MORE DONATION INFO
SPOKEN TOUR VEHICE FUND

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

Ok, where to begin?

On Saturday August 29th as we we’re pulling in to Minneapolis, MN for a show at Club 3 Degrees, we start to notice that there is fluid from the rear end of our van sprayed all over our trailer and that it’s making this howling noise and from our extensive touring over the years we know that these are signs of the gears and bearings in the rear end either going out or already destroyed. So this is not good, we take it to a shop near the club and they basically give us the worst news possible from a vehicle stand point and that is it’s going to cost a lot of money (more money than the vehicle is actually worth) to get it repaired. So now, we are in a borrowed van trying to finish up the tour that we’re on before we take the rest of the month of September off to write and be with our families, and we’re trying to weigh our options and do what’s best in the long run for a new tour vehicle. The more and more we talk and discuss what’s going on it’s pointing to the fact that we should buy a new vehicle as opposed to fixing the old one, so now we’re looking to maybe “move up” in transportation. Getting out of a van and into potentially something larger and definitely more reliable that would provide us with the following:

• A safer more reliable mode of transportation.
• The opportunity to bring our wives and children out with us.
• A small bit of comfort since we are and have been a “Full-Time” touring band.

Over the past 13 years we have tried very hard to make sure that we’re being responsible with our finances and keep our over-head cost as low as we possibly can, so we feel that taking out a huge loan to cover the high cost of a new vehicle would be very unwise so we are reaching out to our fans, friends, families, business, churches, and endorsers to help us raise the much needed funds via donation to the SPOKEN TOUR VEHICLE FUND. The link to donate is at the bottom of this message as well as our Webiste, Myspace, and Facebook pages.. We’re not putting a specific time frame on the availability to donate, but time is of the essence and we need something sooner rather than later and depending on how much we can raise that will determine what we can afford to buy, so we basically have these 3 options:

Used Tour Bus / RV- This would be the ideal situation for comfort for the amount of shows we play, but it’s a HUGE financial responsibility to both buy and maintain, It would basically be our home away form home (which has been a van for 13 years) since we’re away from ours so much.

New/Used (low mileage) Sprinter Van - These are basically an extend version of your basic passenger/cargo van. But they do offer a little more room than a van and are slightly more economical to operate.

New/Used (low mileage) 15-Passenger Van - This is listed last but hey we’ve been doing it for so long we’re used to it. It would get the job done as long as we’re able to find a good one that has a lot of life left in it.

We are trusting that the right decision will be made clear to us in a short amount of time, and that we are able to raise the necessary funds which will basically make the decision for us concerning or future tour vehicle. Here is how you can help:

DONATE: Every little bit helps, let em repeat that ANY AMOUT WILL HELP US! If every single one of just our Myspace friends gave just $5.00 that would make well over $22,000.00 so if you feel inclined to give but feel that your gift would be insufficient please keep that little bit of information in mind. We will also work with business that need to make charitable contributions for tax purposes and find a way to issue you the necessary paperwork. If you would prefer to give via Check or Credit Card please contact us @: jefspoken@gmail.com so we can give you the proper instructions.

HELP US GET OTHERS INVOLVED: We would love it if you would share our story with your friends, family, business partners, investors, and church family. Help us spread the word and invite them to become an important part of this story.

PRAY: Spoken is so thankful for all of the support & prayer that our fans have given us over the many years of our career. Please pray that the LORD would move in peoples’ hearts to give and that he will guide the decision making process over the next several weeks

Again, thank you for even considering your gift to the SPOKEN TOUR VEHICLE FUND. Once we get this little detail worked out, we’ll see you out on the road.

LOVE,
SPOKEN

08.26.09 - HEY!! IT'S AN UPDATE!!!
Spoken Update: 8.26.09

Hey everyone, it’s been a longtime since my last update and it’s kinda dumb how often I say that I’m going to do a better job of getting these out to you in a regular time table so I’m not even going to go there on this one and just give you the skinny.

Spoken & Tooth and Nail Records:
As some of you may have seen on the Tooth and Nail website Spoken has been put into the “ARCHIVED ARTIST” section. Let me first off say that SPOKEN has not broke up, and are not planning on breaking up. It just means that we’re no longer on Tooth and Nail Records. We’ve completed our current contract with them, we’re still on great terms and we still love everyone in the Tooth and Nail family that have helped us throughout the years.

Right now we’re working with T&N to compile a “Greatest Hits” package of the material that we’ve done with them and hope to have it out before the end of the year.

Writing the next SPOKEN record:
If you’ve been keeping up with us, you know that we are in the process of writing the next record. We’re super stoked about the new material and once we have enough songs we’re planning on a possible EP that we may do in between now and the new full length record. Keep an eye on our sites and follow us on twitter: spokenontheroad

As always we’re on the road and below is a list of the shows we have coming up:

Date Venue
8.28.09 Cup O’ Joy
8.29.09 Club 3 Degrees
8.30.09 Newsong
8.31.09 Grand International Inn
9.02.09 The Bunker
9.03.09 BAM Center
9.04.09 Zekes
9.05.09 Lifelight Festival
Thanks for always supporting us, and we look forward to seeing you all at the shows!

04.08.09 - GUITAR AUDITIONS
Well we are still looking for that right person (thanks to everyone that has already contacted us, your still in the running we just like to have options) to fill the Lead Guitar position in Spoken. If you’re interested, please do everything on the check list below and contact us.

And Good luck!!

This is for the Lead Guitar Position in SPOKEN.

What we need you to do is:

Send us 1to3 recordings of songs that you have either wrote, recorded or both either as a solo piece or in a band setting. (Quality will be judged) Learn these 5 Spoken songs: LEARN THE LEAD LINES!!!
- How Long (Last Chance to Breathe)
- Trading in this Troubled Heart (Spoken)
- The Answer (Spoken)
- Close Your Eyes (Spoken)
- Time After Time (Last Chance to Breathe)

Record yourself playing along with those 5 Spoken songs. Pan the original recording left and your performance of that song to the right on your recording. (Again, quality will be judged)

Make an audition video of yourself telling us why you want/should be in Spoken. Be sure to include yourself playing the 5 songs from above.

I can not stress enough that quality counts, the more professional the presentation the better. If your submission is low quality, we will assume that you’re not that interested.

I know it’s a lot, but we’ve got to be very thorough with the audition process.

04.01.09 - JEF HAS SOME AWESOME GEAR AVAILABLE ON EBAY.
I’m getting rid of some pretty sweet gear on EBay. Every so often I get the urge to just get rid of some of the excess gear that I have lying around, so the 2 items that are up for grabs now are my:

Gibson SG Special

Marshall MK II Amp Head

The guitar is really cool b/c it’s the “Echoes of the Spirit Still Dwell” guitar, so it’s all over that record as well as all of our records since.

And the amp is even cooler; it’s 30 years old and has been featured on all but 2 of our records.

So both of these pieces are pretty awesome for a Spoken fan. So if you’re interested, check ‘em out, and good luck!!
